6:1 And David again gathered all the young
men of Israel, about seventy thousand.

6:2 And David arose, and went, he and all the people that were with him, and
some of the rulers of Judah, on an expedition [to a distant place], to bring
back thence the ark of Elohim, on which the name of Yehovah of Host who dwells
between the cherubs upon it is called.

6:3 And they put the ark of Yehovah on a new waggon, and took it out of the
house of Aminadab who lived on the hill, and Oza and his brethren the sons
of Aminadab drove the waggon with the ark.

6:4 And his brethren went before the ark.

6:5 And David and the children of Israel [were] playing before Yehovah on
well-tuned instruments mightily, and with songs, and with harps, and with
lutes, and with drums, and with cymbals, and with pipes.

6:6 And they come as far as the threshing floor of Nachor: and Oza reached
forth his hand to the ark of Elohim to keep it steady, and took hold of it; for
the ox shook it out of its place.

6:7 And Yehovah was very angry with Oza; and Elohim smote him there: and he
died there by the ark of Yehovah before Elohim.

6:8 And David was dispirited because Yehovah made a breach upon Oza; and
that place was called the breach of Oza until this day.

6:9 And David feared Yehovah in that day, saying, How shall the ark of the
    Lord come in to me?

6:10 And David would not bring in the ark of the covenant of Yehovah to
himself into the city of David: and David turned it aside into the house of
    Abeddara the Gethite.

6:11 And the ark of Yehovah lodged in the house of Abeddara the Gethite
three months, and Yehovah blessed all the house of Abeddara, and all his
    possessions.

6:12 And it was reported to king David, saying, Yehovah has blessed the
house of Abeddara, and all that he has, because of the ark of Yehovah. And
David went, and brought up the Ark of Yehovah from the house of Abeddara to
the city of David with gladness.

6:13 And there were with him bearing the ark seven bands, and for a
    sacrifice a calf and lambs.

6:14 And David sounded with well-tuned instruments before Yehovah, and
David [was] clothed with a fine long robe.

6:15 And David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Yehovah
with shouting, and with the sound of a trumpet.

6:16 And it came to pass as the ark arrived at the city of David, that
Melchol the daughter of Saul looked through the window, and saw king David
dancing and playing before Yehovah; and she despised him in her heart.

6:17 And they bring the ark of Yehovah, and set it in its place in the
midst of the tabernacle which David pitched for it: and David offered
    whole-burnt-offerings before Yehovah, [and] peace-offerings.

6:18 And David made an end of offering the whole-burnt-offerings and
peace-offerings, and blessed the people in the name of Yehovah of Hosts.

6:19 And he distributed to all the people, even to all the host of Israel
from Dan to Bersabee, both men and women, to every one a cake of bread, and
a joint of meat, and a cake from the frying-pan: and all the people departed
    every one to his home.

6:20 And David returned to bless his house. And Melchol the daughter of Saul
came out to meet David and saluted him, and said, How was the king of Israel
glorified to-day, who was to-day uncovered in the eyes of the handmaids of
his servants, as one of the dancers wantonly uncovers himself!

6:21 And David said to Melchol, I will dance before Yehovah. Blessed [be]
Yehovah who chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to make
me head over his people, even over Israel: therefore I will play, and dance
    before Yehovah.

6:22 And I will again uncover myself thus, and I will be vile in thine eyes,
and with the maid-servants by whom thou saidst that I was not had in honour.

6:23 And Melchol the daughter of Saul had no child till the day of her
    death. |
6:1 Again, David gathered together all the
chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

6:2 And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from
Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of Elohim, whose name is called
by the name of Yehovah of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim.

6:3 And they set the ark of Elohim upon a new cart, and brought it out of the
house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of
    Abinadab, drave the new cart.

6:4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah,
accompanying the ark of Elohim: and Ahio went before the ark.

6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played before Yehovah on all
manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries,
and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

6:6 And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand
to the ark of Elohim, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

6:7 And the anger of Yehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and Elohim smote him
there for his error; and there he died by the ark of Elohim.

6:8 And David was displeased, because Yehovah had made a breach upon Uzzah:
and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day.

6:9 And David was afraid of Yehovah that day, and said, How shall the ark
    of Yehovah come to me?

6:10 So David would not remove the ark of Yehovah unto him into the city of
David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

6:11 And the ark of Yehovah continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite
three months: and Yehovah blessed Obededom, and all his household.

6:12 And it was told king David, saying, Yehovah hath blessed the house of
Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of Elohim. So
David went and brought up the ark of Elohim from the house of Obededom into the
    city of David with gladness.

6:13 And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of Yehovah had gone
six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.

6:14 And David danced before Yehovah with all his might; and David was
    girded with a linen ephod.

6:15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Yehovah
with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

6:16 And as the ark of Yehovah came into the city of David, Michal Saul's
daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing
before Yehovah; and she despised him in her heart.

6:17 And they brought in the ark of Yehovah, and set it in his place, in
the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered
burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yehovah.

6:18 And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and
peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yehovah of hosts.

6:19 And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of
Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a
good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every
    one to his house.

6:20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of
Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel
to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his
servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

6:21 And David said unto Michal, It was before Yehovah, which chose me
before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the
people of Yehovah, over Israel: therefore will I play before Yehovah.

6:22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own
sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be
    had in honor.

6:23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her
    death. |
