Deuteronomy 7

Deuteronomy 7

7:1 And when Yehovah thy Elohim shall bring thee into the land, into which thou goest to possess it, and shall remove great nations from before thee, the Chettite, and Gergesite, and Amorite, and Canaanite, and Pherezite, and Evite, and Jebusite, seven nations [more] numerous and stronger than you,

7:2 and Yehovah thy Elohim shall deliver them into thy hands, then thou shalt smite them: thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt not make a covenant with them, neither shall ye pity them:

7:3 neither shall ye contract marriages with them: thou shalt not give thy daughter to his son, and thou shalt not take his daughter to thy son.

7:4 For he will draw away thy son from me, and he will serve other gods; and Yehovah will be very angry with you, and will soon utterly destroy thee.

7:5 But thus shall ye do to them; ye shall destroy their altars, and shall break down their pillars, and shall cut down their groves, and shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods.

7:6 For thou art a holy people to Yehovah thy Elohim; and Yehovah thy Elohim chose thee to be to him a peculiar people beyond all nations that [are] upon the face of the earth.

7:7 It as not because ye are more numerous than all [other] nations that the Lord preferred you, and Yehovah made choice of you: for ye are fewer in number than all [other] nations.

7:8 But because Yehovah loved you, and as keeping the oath which he sware to your fathers, Yehovah brought you out with a strong hand, and Yehovah redeemed thee from the house of bondage, out of the hand ofPharaoh king of Egypt.

7:9 Thou shalt know therefore, that Yehovah thy Elohim, he [is] Elohim, a faithful Elohim, who keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him, and for those that keep his commandments to a thousand generations,

7:10 and who recompenses them that hate him to their face, to destroy them utterly; and will not be slack with them that hate him: he will recompense them to their face.

7:11 Thou shalt keep therefore the commands, and the ordinances, and these judgments, which I command thee this day to do.

7:12 And it shall come to pass when ye shall have heard these ordinances, and shall have kept and done them, that Yehovah thy Elohim shall keep for thee the covenant and the mercy, which he sware to your fathers.

7:13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; and he will bless the off-spring of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the herds of thine oxen, and the flocks of thy sheep, on the land which Yehovah sware to thy fathers to give to thee.

7:14 Thou shalt be blessed beyond all nations; there shall not be among you an impotent or barren one, or among thy cattle.

7:15 And Yehovah thy Elohim shall remove from thee all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou hast seen, and all that thou hast known, will he lay upon thee; but he will lay them upon all that hate thee.

7:16 And thou shalt eat all the spoils of the nations which Yehovah thy Elohim gives thee; thine eye shall not spare them, and thou shalt not serve their gods; for this is an offence to thee.

7:17 But if thou shouldest say in thine heart, This nation [is] greater than I, how shall I be able to destroy them utterly?

7:18 thou shalt not fear them; thou shalt surely remember all that Yehovah thy Elohim did toPharaoh and to all the Egyptians:

7:19 the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, those signs and great wonders, the strong hand, and the high arm; how Yehovah thy Elohim brought thee forth: so Yehovah your Elohim will do to all the nations, whom thou fearest in their presence.

7:20 And Yehovah thy Elohim shall send against them the hornets, until they that are left and they that are hidden from thee be utterly destroyed.

7:21 Thou shalt not be wounded before them, because Yehovah thy Elohim in the midst of thee [is] a great and powerful Elohim.

7:22 And Yehovah thy Elohim shall consume these nations before thee by little and little: thou shalt not be able to consume them speedily, lest the land become desert, and the wild beasts of the field be multiplied against thee.

7:23 And Yehovah thy Elohim shall deliver them into thy hands, and thou shalt destroy them with a great destruction, until ye shall have utterly destroyed them.

7:24 And he shall deliver their kings into your hands, and ye shall destroy their name from that place; none shall stand up in opposition before thee, until thou shalt have utterly destroyed them.

7:25 Ye shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods: thou shalt not covet [their] silver, neither shalt thou take to thyself gold from them, lest thou shouldest offend thereby, because it is an abomination to Yehovah thy Elohim.

7:26 And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thine house, so shouldest thou be an accursed thing like it; thou shalt utterly hate it, and altogether abominate it, because it is an accursed thing.

7:1 When Yehovah thy Elohim shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

7:2 And when Yehovah thy Elohim shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them:

7:3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

7:4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Yehovah be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

7:6 For thou art an holy people unto Yehovah thy Elohim: Yehovah thy Elohim hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7:7 Yehovah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

7:8 But because Yehovah loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath Yehovah brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand ofPharaohh king of Egypt.

7:9 Know therefore that Yehovah thy Elohim, he is Elohim, the faithful Elohim, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

7:10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

7:11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that Yehovah thy Elohim shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

7:13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

7:14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

7:15 And Yehovah will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

7:16 And thou shalt consume all the people which Yehovah thy Elohim shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

7:17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

7:18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what Yehovah thy Elohim did untoPharaohh, and unto all Egypt;

7:19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby Yehovah thy Elohim brought thee out: so shall Yehovah thy Elohim do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

7:20 Moreover Yehovah thy Elohim will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.

7:21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for Yehovah thy Elohim is among you, a mighty Elohim and terrible.

7:22 And Yehovah thy Elohim will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

7:23 But Yehovah thy Elohim shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.

7:24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.

7:25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to Yehovah thy Elohim.

7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
