2:1 The word which came to Esaias the son of
Amos concerning Judea, and concerning Jerusalem.
2:2 For in the last days the mountain of Yehovah shall be glorious, and the
house of Elohim [shall be] on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted
above the hills; and all nations shall come to it.
2:3 And many nations shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the
mountain of Yehovah, and to the house of the Elohim of Jacob; and he will tell
us his way, and we will walk in it: for out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of Yehovah out of Jerusalem.
2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and
they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into
sickles: and nation shall not take up sword against nation, neither shall
they learn to war any more.
2:5 And now, O house of Jacob, come, [and] let us walk in the light of the
Lord.
2:6 For he has forsaken his people the house of Israel, because their land
is filled as at the beginning with divinations, as the [land] of the
Philistines, and many strange children were born to them.
2:7 For their land is filled with silver and gold, and there was no number
of their treasures; their land also is filled with horses, and there was no
number of chariots.
2:8 And the land is filled with abominations, [even] the works of their
hands; and they have worshipped [the works] which their fingers made.
2:9 And the mean man bowed down, and the great man was humbled: and I will
not pardon them.
2:10 Now therefore enter ye into the rocks, and hide yourselves in the
earth, for fear of Yehovah, and by reason of the glory of his might, when
he shall arise to strike terribly the earth.
2:11 For the eyes of Yehovah are high, but man is low; and the haughtiness
of men shall be brought low, and Yehovah alone shall be exalted in that
day.
2:12 For the day of Yehovah of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud
and haughty, and upon every one that is high and towering, and they shall be
brought down;
2:13 and upon every cedar of Libanus, of them that are high and towering,
and upon every oak of Basan,
2:14 and upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill,
2:15 and upon every high tower, and upon every high wall,
2:16 and upon every ship of the sea, and upon every display of fine ships.
2:17 And every man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall fall:
and Yehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
2:18 And they shall hide all [idols] made with hands,
2:19 having carried [them] into the caves, and into the clefts of the rocks,
and into the caverns of the earth, for fear of Yehovah, and by reason of
the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth.
2:20 For in that day a man shall cast forth his silver and gold
abominations, which they made [in order] to worship vanities and bats;
2:21 to enter into the caverns of the solid rock, and into the clefts of the
rocks, for fear of Yehovah, and by reason of the glory of his might, when
he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. |
2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw
concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the
Yehovah's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be
exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the
mountain of Yehovah, to the house of the Elohim of Jacob; and he will teach us
of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth
the law, and the word of Yehovah from Jerusalem.
2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and
they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into
pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall
they learn war any more.
2:5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Yehovah.
2:6 Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they
be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and
they please themselves in the children of strangers.
2:7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of
their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end
of their chariots:
2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own
hands, that which their own fingers have made:
2:9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself:
therefore forgive them not.
2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of Yehovah,
and for the glory of his majesty.
2:11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men
shall be bowed down, and Yehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
2:12 For the day of Yehovah of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud
and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought
low:
2:13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and
upon all the oaks of Bashan,
2:14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted
up,
2:15 And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,
2:16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.
2:17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of
men shall be made low: and Yehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
2:18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.
2:19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of
the earth, for fear of Yehovah, and for the glory of his majesty, when he
ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
2:20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of
gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to
the bats;
2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged
rocks, for fear of Yehovah, and for the glory of his majesty, when he
ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
2:22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he
to be accounted of ? |
