Jeremias (Jeremiah) 28

Jeremias (Jeremiah) 28

28:1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of Sedekias king of Judah, in the fifth month, [that] Ananias the false prophet, the son of Azor, from Gabaon, spoke to me in the house of Yehovah, in the sight of the priests and all the people, saying,

28:2 Thus saith Yehovah; I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

28:3 Yet two full years, and I will return into this place the vessels of the house of Yehovah,

28:4 and Jechonias, and the captivity of Judah: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

28:5 Then Jeremias spoke to Ananias in the sight of all the people, and in the sight of the priests that stood in the house of Yehovah,

28:6 and Jeremias said, May Yehovah indeed do thus; may he confirm thy word which thou dost prophesy, to return the vessels of the house of Yehovah, and all the captivity, out of Babylon to this place.

28:7 Nevertheless hear ye the word of Yehovah which I speak in your ears, and in the ears of all the people.

28:8 The prophets that were before me and before you of old, also prophesied over much country, and against great kingdoms, concerning war.

28:9 [As for] the prophet that has prophesied for peace, when the word has come [to pass], they shall know the prophet whom Yehovah has sent them in truth.

28:10 Then Ananias took the yokes from the neck of Jeremias in the sight of all the people, and broke them to pieces.

28:11 And Ananias spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus said Yehovah; Thus will I break the yoke of the king of Babylon from the necks of all the nations. And Jeremias went his way.

28:12 And the word of Yehovah came to Jeremias, after that Ananias had broken the yokes off his neck, saying,

28:13 Go and speak to Ananias, saying, Thus saith Yehovah; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but I will make instead of them yokes of iron.

28:14 For thus said Yehovah, I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all the nations, that they may serve the king of Babylon.

28:15 And Jeremias said to Ananias, Yehovah has not sent thee; and thou hast caused this people to trust in unrighteousness.

28:16 Therefore thus said Yehovah: Behold, I [will] cast thee off from the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die.

28:17 So he died in the seventh month.

28:1 And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of Yehovah, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

28:2 Thus speaketh Yehovah of hosts, the Elohim of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

28:3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of Yehovah's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:

28:4 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the Yehovah: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

28:5 Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of Yehovah,

28:6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: Yehovah do so: Yehovah perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the Yehovah's house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

28:7 Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;

28:8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

28:9 The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that Yehovah hath truly sent him.

28:10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it.

28:11 And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith Yehovah; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

28:12 Then the word of Yehovah came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

28:13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith Yehovah; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.

28:14 For thus saith Yehovah of hosts, the Elohim of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.

28:15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; Yehovah hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

28:16 Therefore thus saith Yehovah; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against Yehovah.

28:17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
