14:1 And there came to me men of the people
of Israel, of the elders, and sat before me.

14:2 And the word of Yehovah came to me, saying,

14:3 Son of man, these men have conceived their devices in their hearts, and
have set before their faces the punishment of their iniquities: shall I
    indeed answer them?

14:4 Therefore speak to them, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the
Lord; Any man of the house of Israel, who shall conceive his devices in his
heart, and shall set the punishment of his iniquity before his face, and
shall come to the prophet; I Yehovah will answer him [according to the
things] in which his mind is entangled,

14:5 that he should turn aside the house of Israel, according to their
hearts that are estranged from me in their thoughts.

14:6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith Yehovah Elohim, Be
converted, and turn from your [evil] practices, and from all your sins, and
    turn your faces back again.

14:7 For any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in
Israel, who shall separate himself from me, and conceive his imaginations in
his heart, and set before his face the punishment of his iniquity, and come
to the prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I Yehovah will answer him,
[according to the things] wherein he is entangled.

14:8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him desolate and
ruined, and will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know
    that I am Yehovah.

14:9 And if a prophet should cause to err and should speak, I Yehovah have
caused that prophet to err, and will stretch out my hand upon him, and will
utterly destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

14:10 And they shall bear their iniquity according to the trespass of him
that asks; and it shall be in like manner to the prophet according to the
    trespass:

14:11 that the house of Israel may no go astray from me, and that they may
no more defile themselves with any of their transgressions: so shall they be
my people, and I will be their Elohim, saith Yehovah.

14:12 And the word of Yehovah came to me, saying,

14:13 Son of man, if a land shall sin against me by committing a trespass,
then will I stretch out my hand upon it, and will break its staff of bread,
and will send forth famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast.

14:14 And though these three men should be in the midst of it, Noah, and
Daniel, and Job, they [alone] should be delivered by their righteousness,
    saith Yehovah.

14:15 If again I bring evil beasts upon the land, and take vengeance upon
it, and it be ruined, and there be no one to pass through for fear of the
    wild beasts:

14:16 and [if] these three men should be in the midst of it, [as] I live,
saith Yehovah, neither sons nor daughters shall be saved, but these only
shall be saved, and the land shall be destroyed.

14:17 Or again if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Let the sword go
through the land; and I cut off from them man and beast:

14:18 though these three men were in the midst of it, as I live, saith the
Lord, they shall not deliver sons or daughters, but they only shall be saved
    themselves.

14:19 Or [if] again I send pestilence upon that land, and pour out my wrath
upon it in blood, to destroy from off it man and beast:

14:20 and should Noah, and Daniel, and Job, be in the midst of it, [as] I
    live, saith Yehovah, there shall be left [them] neither sons nor daughters;
[only] they by their righteousness shall deliver their souls.

14:21 Thus saith Yehovah, And if I even send upon Jerusalem my four sore
judgements, sword, and famine, and evil beasts, and pestilence, to destroy
    from out of it man and beast;

14:22 yet, behold, [there shall be] men left in it, the escaped thereof, who
[shall] lead forth of it sons and daughters: behold, they [shall] go forth
to you, land ye shall see their ways and their thoughts: and ye shall mourn
over the evils which I have brought upon Jerusalem, [even] all the evils
which I have brought upon it.

14:23 And they shall comfort you, because ye shall see their ways and their
thoughts: and ye shall know that I have not done in vain all that I have
done in it, saith Yehovah. |
14:1 Then came certain of the elders of
Israel unto me, and sat before me.

14:2 And the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,

14:3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put
the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired
    of at all by them?

    14:4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith Yehovah GOD;
Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and
putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to
the prophet; I Yehovah will answer him that cometh according to the
    multitude of his idols;

14:5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they
are all estranged from me through their idols.

    14:6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith Yehovah GOD;
Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from
    all your abominations.

14:7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that
sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his
idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before
his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the
Yehovah will answer him by myself:

14:8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a
proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall
    know that I am Yehovah.

14:9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I Yehovah
have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and
will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

14:10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment
    of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

14:11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be
polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my
people, and I may be their Elohim, saith Yehovah GOD.

14:12 The word of Yehovah came again to me, saying,

14:13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing
grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the
staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off
    man and beast from it:

14:14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should
deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith Yehovah GOD.

14:15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it,
so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

14:16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith Yehovah GOD, they
shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but
    the land shall be desolate.

14:17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the
land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

14:18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith Yehovah GOD, they
shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered
    themselves.

14:19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it
in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

14:20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, saith Yehovah
GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver
their own souls by their righteousness.

14:21 For thus saith Yehovah GOD; How much more when I send my four sore
judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast,
and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

14:22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought
forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and
ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted
concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all
that I have brought upon it.

14:23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings:
and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in
    it, saith Yehovah GOD. |
