2:1 And Jonas prayed to Yehovah his Elohim out
of the belly of the whale,

2:2 and said, I cried in my affliction to Yehovah my Elohim, and he hearkened
to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: thou heardest my voice.

2:3 Thou didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the
floods compassed me: all thy billows and thy waves have passed upon me.

2:4 And I said, I am cast out of thy presence: shall I indeed look again
    toward thy holy temple?

2:5 Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my
    head went down

2:6 to the clefts of the mountains; I went down into the earth, whose bars
are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my Elohim, let my ruined life be
    restored.

2:7 When my soul was failing me, I remembered Yehovah; and may my prayer
come to thee into thy holy temple.

2:8 They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.

2:9 But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of praise and thanksgiving:
all that I have vowed I will pay to thee, Yehovah of [my] salvation.

2:10 And the whale was commanded by Yehovah, and it cast up Jonas on the
    dry [land]. |
2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto Yehovah his Elohim
    out of the fish's belly,

2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto Yehovah, and he
heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

2:3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the
floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

2:4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward
    thy holy temple.

2:5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me
round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

2:6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was
about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Yehovah
    my Elohim.

2:7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered Yehovah: and my prayer came
in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

2:8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will
pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of Yehovah.

2:10 And Yehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry
    land. |
