10:1 And after Abimelech Thola the son of
Phua rose up to save Israel, [being] the son of his father's brother, a man
of Issachar; and he dwelt in Samir in mount Ephraim.
10:2 And he judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in
Samir.
10:3 And after him arose Jair of Galaad, and he judged Israel twenty-two
years.
10:4 And he had thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and they had
thirty-two cities; and they called them Jair's towns until this day in the
land of Galaad.
10:5 And Jair died, and was buried in Rhamnon.
10:6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of Yehovah, and
served Baalim, and Astaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon,
and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of
the Phylistines; and they forsook Yehovah, and did not serve him.
10:7 And Yehovah was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hands
of the Phylistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
10:8 And they afflicted and bruised the children of Israel at that time
eighteen years, all the children of Israel beyond Jordan in the land of the
Amorite in Galaad.
10:9 And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Judah, and
Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly
afflicted.
10:10 And the children of Israel cried to Yehovah, saying, We have sinned
against thee, because we have forsaken Elohim, and served Baalim.
10:11 And Yehovah said to the children of Israel, Did I not [save you] from
Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the
Phylistines,
10:12 and from the Sidonians, and Amalec, and Madiam, who afflicted you? and
ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand?
10:13 Yet ye forsook me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you
any more.
10:14 Go, and cry to the gods whom ye have chosen to yourselves, and let
them save you in the time of your affliction.
10:15 And the children of Israel said to Yehovah, We have sinned: do thou
to us according to all [that is] good in thine eyes; only deliver us this
day.
10:16 And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served
Yehovah only, and his soul was pained for the trouble of Israel.
10:17 And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Galaad; and the
children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill.
10:18 And the people the princes of Galaad said every man to his neighbour,
Who [is] he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he
shall even be head over all that dwell in Galaad. |

10:3 And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two
years.
10:4 And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had
thirty cities, which are called Havothjair unto this day, which are in the
land of Gilead.
10:5 And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.
10:6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of Yehovah, and
served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon,
and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of
the Philistines, and forsook Yehovah, and served not him.
10:7 And the anger of Yehovah was hot against Israel, and he sold them into
the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
10:8 And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen
years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the
land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
10:9 Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against
Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that
Israel was sore distressed.
10:10 And the children of Israel cried unto Yehovah, saying, We have sinned
against thee, both because we have forsaken our Elohim, and also served Baalim.
10:11 And Yehovah said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you
from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and
from the Philistines?
10:12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress
you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
10:13 Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will
deliver you no more.
10:14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in
the time of your tribulation.
10:15 And the children of Israel said unto Yehovah, We have sinned: do thou
unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee,
this day.
10:16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the
Yehovah: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
10:17 Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in
Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and
encamped in Mizpeh.
10:18 And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is
he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head
over all the inhabitants of Gilead. |
