21:1 And Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
Speak to the priests the sons of Aaron, and thou shalt tell them [that] they
shall not defile themselves in their nation for the dead,
21:2 but [they may mourn] for a relative who is very near to them, for a
father and mother, and sons and daughters, for a brother,
21:3 and for a virgin sister that is near to one, that is not espoused to a
man; for these one shall defile himself.
21:4 He shall not defile himself suddenly among his people to profane
himself.
21:5 And ye shall not shave your head for the dead with a baldness on the
top; and they shall not shave their beard, neither shall they make gashes on
their flesh.
21:6 They shall be holy to their Elohim, and they shall not profane the name of
their Elohim; for they offer the sacrifices of Yehovah as the gifts of their
Elohim, and they shall be holy.
21:7 They shall not take a woman who is a harlot and profaned, or a woman
put away from her husband; for he is holy to Yehovah his Elohim.
21:8 And thou shalt hallow him; he offers the gifts of Yehovah your Elohim: he
shall be holy, for I Yehovah that sanctify them [am] holy.
21:9 And if the daughter of a priest should be profaned to go a whoring, she
profanes the name of her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
21:10 And the priest that is chief among his brethren, the oil having been
poured upon the head of the anointed one, and he having been consecrated to
put on the garments, shall not take the mitre off his head, and shall not
rend his garments:
21:11 neither shall he go in to any dead body, neither shall he defile
himself for his father or his mother.
21:12 And he shall not go forth out of the sanctuary, and he shall not
profane the sanctuary of his Elohim, because the holy anointing oil of Elohim [is]
upon him: I [am] Yehovah.
21:13 He shall take for a wife a virgin of his own tribe.
21:14 But a widow, or one that is put away, or profaned, or a harlot, these
he shall not take; but he shall take for a wife a virgin of his own people.
21:15 And he shall not profane his seed among his people: I [am] Yehovah
that sanctifies him.
21:16 And Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
21:17 Say to Aaron, A man of thy tribe throughout your generations, who
shall have a blemish on him, shall not draw nigh to offer the gifts of his
Elohim.
21:18 No man who has a blemish on him shall draw nigh; a man blind, lame,
with his nose disfigured, or his ears cut,
21:19 a man who has a broken hand or a broken foot,
21:20 or hump-backed, or blear-eyed, or that has lost his eye-lashes, or a
man who has a malignant ulcer, or tetter, or one that has lost a testicle.
21:21 Whoever of the seed of Aaron the priest has a blemish on him, shall
not draw nigh to offer sacrifices to thy Elohim, because he has a blemish on
him; he shall not draw nigh to offer the gifts of Elohim.
21:22 The gifts of Elohim [are] most holy, and he shall eat of the holy things.
21:23 Only he shall not approach the veil, and he shall not draw nigh to the
altar, because he has a blemish; and he shall not profane the sanctuary of
his Elohim, or I am Yehovah that sanctifies them.
21:24 And Moses spoke to Aaron and his sons, and to all the children of
Israel. |
21:1 And Yehovah said unto Moses, Speak
unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be
defiled for the dead among his people:
21:2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and
for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.
21:3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no
husband; for her may he be defiled.
21:4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to
profane himself.
21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave
off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
21:6 They shall be holy unto their Elohim, and not profane the name of their
Elohim: for the offerings of Yehovah made by fire, and the bread of their Elohim,
they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
21:7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall
they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his Elohim.
21:8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy
Elohim: he shall be holy unto thee: for I Yehovah, which sanctify you, am
holy.
21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the
whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
21:10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the
anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments,
shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;
21:11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his
father, or for his mother;
21:12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of
his Elohim; for the crown of the anointing oil of his Elohim is upon him: I am the
Yehovah.
21:13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.
21:14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he
not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
21:15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I Yehovah do
sanctify him.
21:16 And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
21:17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their
generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread
of his Elohim.
21:18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a
blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
21:19 Or a man that is broken-footed, or broken-handed,
21:20 Or crookbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be
scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come
nigh to offer the offerings of Yehovah made by fire: he hath a blemish; he
shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his Elohim.
21:22 He shall eat the bread of his Elohim, both of the most holy, and of the
holy.
21:23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar,
because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the
Yehovah do sanctify them.
21:24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the
children of Israel. |
