“Elohim is one” vs. “Elohim is three-in-one”

Daniel N.N.

Essentially Christianity was supposed to be part or a branch from Judaism; being that Yeshua was a Jew and all of the 12 disciples and many of the 1st Century CE followers were Jews. Christianity had Jewish beginnings, and thus if we claim we worship the same Elohim as the Jews, if we claim we worship Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, it should be that today we should be worshipping the same Elohim as the Jews. But seeing what became of Christianity in the 4th Century CE take over by the Roman government and the exchange of Elohim from one to a combination of three-in-one, it’s easy to see why Jews today and for centuries did not believe in the same god Christians believed in.

Jews today still hold the true identity of the one and only true Elohim (Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) as only our Father – and not this combination god we created. Ask any Jew practicing Judaism whether Christians are worshipping the same Elohim as the Jews and they will frankly tell you we are not worshipping the same Elohim despite the popular belief we are serving the same Elohim. They may share the same name, but in reality, they are two very different “GODS” as we saw above.

The problem is not that Christians don’t know who Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is; the problem is we are worshipping the wrong god, a false image, a combination god the church fathers created to represent Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We have taken the name of the true Elohim and changed him by adding other entities and then claiming that this new god we formed in the 4 th century CE, a triune image is the same as the true Elohim when in fact he is not.

For whatever reason the 4 th century CE bishops changed the image of Elohim, either for political reasons or for the purposes of cultural integration or because they thought Yeshua was actually one and the same person as Elohim because of all the miracles, wonders and signs they had heard he had done; what we know for sure is that they changed the identity of who Elohim is. Maybe like them we might be thinking that in worshipping and uplifting Yeshua to the status of Elohim we are doing the right thing, but then we are not because as we clearly saw in the verses before Yeshua is not the same person as Elohim and there are hundreds of verses in the Bible to prove it.

To begin with, Yeshua did not ask us to make him Elohim, and secondly what we are doing is undermining the glory reserved only for Elohim, the Creator of all things by uplifting a servant he sent (Acts 3:26) to the same status as Elohim who sent him. Elohim clearly says I will not share my glory with another (Isaiah 42:8 or 48:11). So, by worshiping “a trinity god” we have not only created our own god (“Elohim the Father”, “Elohim the Son”, “Elohim the Holy Spirit”) but we have also taken Elohim's glory away and spilt it among two other entities that the Bible clearly does not in any way claim to be Elohim or the same as Elohim or part of Elohim.

Just imagine if the Israelites had lifted up Moses – who was sent to lead the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt – to the status of Elohim or made him equal to Elohim because of all the miracles that Elohim did through him. Wouldn’t we have called them Idolaters? Yet we all know and it is documented in the Bible that the miracles Yeshua performed, Elohim did through him.

“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Yeshua of Nazareth was a man accredited by Elohim to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which Elohim did among you through him , as you yourselves know.

Acts 2:22

So, judge for yourself, who then should receive the glory, Yeshua a servant who Elohim sent and did the miracles through, or Elohim who sent Yeshua?

Does Elohim Change?

“Elohim who is enthroned from of old, who does not change –...”

Psalm 55:19

Elohim cannot be one, one, one, one, one, one, one... from the beginning of time, for more than 4000 years, then in the middle – after neglecting to tell every prophet he sent – around the 4 th century CE he reveals it to a select group of Roman government appointed Ecumenical Council Bishops that He was a combination god. Bishops who even at the time of their deliberations to try change the identity of who Elohim is, were strongly opposed by their fellow Bishops.

The biggest problem with the triune image of Elohim is that it was never so from the beginning. This is a new concept that was added later – specifically beginning in 325 CE – in the Church. Elohim is not a Elohim of confusion, He is not like man, He does not change, He cannot be “one” and then along the way change to “three-in-one” – a concept that is equally confusing and surrounded with so many unanswered questions, “mysteries” or things that don’t even make sense.

Do people make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!”

Jeremiah 16:20

What is clear and a fact is that Elohim, the Elohim of Israel, Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Elohim that all the prophets in the Bible, even Yeshua worshipped has not changed from being only one Elohim, only our Father. On the other hand, man can change who god is, but then at the end of the day any logical person would realize that if we changed the description of Elohim, we are not worshipping the same Elohim. We are worshipping a new god. They might have the same title – Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – but they are not the same Elohim.

Secondly, Elohim cannot only be the Father to one group of people today – the Jews – who to this day still worship Elohim as only the Father, and also be a combination god – “Elohim the Father”, “Elohim the Son”, “Elohim the Holy Spirit” - to another group of people (Christians) and yet we claim He is one and the same Elohim that both groups are worshipping. It is not only preposterous to think that, but logically impossible, only one can be right, and the other wrong.

Since Judaism started before Christianity and Christianity mid-way – in 4th Century CE – changed who Elohim is as we saw above, it is sufficing to say we changed from worshipping the true Elohim as stated in Judaism and we created our own new god. Judaism on the other hand is worshipping the right Elohim because they have never changed Elohim – his identity or description.

Since the creation of man, man’s inclination has sought to draw man away from worshipping the one and only true Elohim (Yehovah) to worshipping false impersonations, false gods and idols – man-made images of wood, metal and stone. In the 4th Century CE the Ecumenical Bishops created “an intellectual idol” – an ideologically and theologically crafted image of Elohim, established by a vote, of a god made of three persons, a triune image that is not tangible, but still an idol nonetheless.

All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame. Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? People who do that will be put to shame; such craftsmen are only human beings. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and shame. The blacksmith takes a tool and works with it in the coals; he shapes an idol with hammers, he forges it with the might of his arm. He gets hungry and loses his strength; he drinks no water and grows faint. The carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker; he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses. He shapes it in human form, human form in all its glory, that it may dwell in a shrine. He cut down cedars, or perhaps took a cypress or oak. He let it grow among the trees of the forest, or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow. It is used as fuel for burning; some of it he takes and warms himself, he kindles a fire and bakes bread. But he also fashions a god and worships it; he makes an idol and bows down to it. Half of the wood he burns in the fire; over it he prepares his meal, he roasts his meat and eats his fill. He also warms himself and says, “Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.” From the rest he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. He prays to it and says, “Save me! You are my god!” They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand. No one stops to think, no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, “Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood? ” Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, “ Is not this thing in my right hand a lie? ”

Isaiah 44:9-20

How can we not see that this triune image of a god is a lie, a man- made god, something that was started in the 4 th Century CE? Something that is different from what the word of Elohim states to be the identity of the one true Elohim? How can we claim to be worshipping Elohim the father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and claim we stemmed from Judaism, yet we deny the identity and nature of the Elohim they worship?

How I wish we could see that this three-in-one god we are now worshipping is something that was intellectually created. An image built, curved, molded by theological arguments, in the minds of a few men and then written in the form of creeds voted on by men. Men who sort to intentionally or unintentionally change the Elohim we worshipped by moving away from the true identity of Elohim as established from creation. There was no need to create or redefine who Elohim is. This triune image, this combination god we formed is not Elohim! Elohim cannot be voted in or out, not even by Ecumenical Council Bishops. Elohim is Elohim; He existed before any vote could be taken in the 4th Century CE.

How can we not see that this is something new? This is a new god, man’s creation, something that was formed outside the Word of Elohim (the Bible), something that cannot be found written anywhere in scripture. How can we not see it is not what our forefathers believed in, the prophets, all the great men in the Bible, the early Christians, the disciples, even Yeshua (whom we claim to follow)? How can we not see that the trinity is something that is errantly supported by 17 verses which have been taken out of context whereas there are more 195 opposing verses that prove Elohim is not three-in-one?

Sadly, what we have done is what the Israelites did –

They sacrificed to false gods, which are not Elohim— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear .

Deuteronomy 32:17

Like the Israelites we (Christians) turned away from worshipping the one true Elohim (our Father) and turned to worshipping a god who was unknown to us before the 4th century CE, we turned to worship a new god.

Has a nation ever changed its gods ? ( Yet they are not gods at all. ) But my people have exchanged their glorious Elohim for worthless idols. Beappalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares Yehovah. “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Jeremiah 2:11-13

Changing or forming a new god is – Idolatry.

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything”

Idolatry is defined as the act of worshipping an idol, which is equivalent to worshipping someone or something other than the one true Elohim. Anything we create, whether it includes a reference to Elohim, or a part of Him, as long as we are worshipping someone o r something other than the one and only true Elohim; that is idolatry.

We know as a matter of fact throughout scripture, Elohim has not changed, and the Bible to this day still says “Elohim is one” and there isn’t a single verse in the Bible with the words “Elohim is three-in-one” or Elohim is a combination god.

This new god or idea of god we created in the 4 th Century CE is not Elohim, because Elohim did not change in 4th Century CE as we saw above. So, we are left with a god we created on our own, a new god – (“Elohim the Father” “Elohim the Son” and “Elohim the Holy Spirit”). What the ecumenical council bishops created was an idol – because they created something other than the true Elohim. They created a trinity image of a god who is three different persons in one god, whereas Elohim is simply one, and only our Father. And since this image/idol is not Elohim, because we know Elohim does not change, we became idolaters for worshipping something other than the one true Elohim.

This is the command Elohim gave to the Israelites and to us –

I am Yehovah your Elohim, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, Yehovah your Elohim, am a jealous Elohim, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

 Deuteronomy 5:6-9

So, if the Israelites who were told to worship Elohim, the one and only true Elohim did not worship this triune god we created as god, how then can we say we are worshipping the same Elohim as the Israelites? As long as we are worshipping someone or something other than the one and only true Elohim that the Israelites worshiped, and that the Jews still worship to this day, then we are worshipping our own creation, which is in fact an idol.

It is for this reason Elohim said, “do not form an image of anything – imaginary, ideological, theological or physical – on earth, in heaven, or in the waters below”, because He knew anything we created whether tangible or intangible would have to be something we made with our own hands and mind, our own creation, something that was different from the true Elohim – an idol. Elohim had already told the Israelites who He was and they didn’t need to try to figure it out, recreate or vote who they thought He was.

It’s a difficult truth to swallow, but the fact is, as long we are worshipping anyone or anything apart from the one and only true Elohim we are idolaters. That is even if we are attaching Elohim's name to that image or idol.

Then whatever comes after the fact is a false god, or an idol.

Simply said we don’t need to reinvent Elohim. Anytime we create or redefine who Elohim is, we are in fact creating an idol; for whatever we create will be uniquely different from the one and only true Elohim.

Christianity today is built on worshipping a false god –an Idol

(Worshipping idols while thinking we can also serve Elohim)

Do not worship any other god, for Yehovah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous Elohim.

Exodus 34:14

Elohim is very explicit about his commandments and laws; He would not give the first four commandments to the Israelites asking them to obey and worship Him only and somehow not clearly tell the Israelites who He is. So if this Elohim the Israelites were asked to worship was a trinity, it would only make sense that Elohim would tell them or at least write about it explicitly in His Word (the Bible) so that the coming generations would know exactly who to worship, but as it is, he did not write anything about Elohim being a trinity (“Elohim the Father” “Elohim the Son” “Elohim the Holy Spirit”).

We run a great risk lifting the words of a group of fallible men (4th Century Ecumenical Council Bishops) over the very Word of Elohim. If the creeds written by men are what we will use as authority over Elohim's Word to support our conviction that Elohim is a trinity, then we risk alienating ourselves from Elohim. Unfortunately, by uplifting Yeshua and the Holy Spirit to the status of Elohim – something that Elohim never instructed us to do – we are walking in unrighteousness. We are actually serving an idol, a trinity image created in the 4th Century CE. We are serving a false god while deceiving ourselves we are serving the one and only true Elohim.

A story is told in the Old Testament in 2 Kings 17:24-41 about a group of people who were given the truth about the identity of Elohim – much like Christianity – but instead of worshipping the true Elohim they continued worshipping their idols while thinking they were serving Elohim.

The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took over Samaria and lived in its towns. When they first lived there, they did not worship Yehovah; so he sent lions among them and they killed some of the people. It was reported to the king of Assyria: “The people you deported and resettled in the towns of Samaria do not know what the god of that country requires. He has sent lions among them, which are killing them off, because the people do not know what he requires.” Then the king of Assyria gave this order: “Have one of the priests you took captive from Samaria go back to live there and teach the people what the god of the land requires.”

So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel and taught them how to worship Yehovah. Nevertheless, each national group made its own gods in the several towns where they settled and set them up in the shrines the people of Samaria had made at the high places. The people from Babylon made Sukkoth Benoth, those from Kuthah made Nergal, and those from Hamath made Ashima; the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire as sacrifices to Adrammelek and Anammelek, the gods of Sepharvaim.

They worshiped Yehovah, but they also appointed all sorts of their own people to officiate for them as priests in the shrines at the high places. They worshiped Yehovah, but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought . To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship Yehovah  nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that Yehovah  gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel. When Yehovah made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them: “Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. But Yehovah, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices. You must always be careful to keep the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands he wrote for you. Do not worship other gods. Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. Rather, worship Yehovah your Elohim; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.” They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices. Even while these people were worshiping Yehovah, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

2 Kings 17:24-41

The fact is, we cannot serve idols and serve Elohim at the same time. Sadly, that is what the people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim thought they could do – serve idols and worship Elohim at the same time. On the same note,  Christians have been doing the same thing, serving an idol (triune god) while claiming to be worshipping Yehovah.

From Judaism we were handed the true identity of Elohim and told who to worship, but along the way we changed the identity of Elohim. And somehow by retaining His name (Elohim the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) we were made to still think we were serving Elohim when in fact we are serving an idol.

The truth is, we will never know what exactly motivated the Ecumenical Council Bishops to change who Elohim is, but the one thing we know for sure is they created a new god, a three-in-one god – an idol.

So in one way like the people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim they kept the name of  Yehovah as though they were worshipping Him, but at the same time they were serving an idol, a triune god they had created.

It’s important that we also not forget that the Church in its infancy (1st to 5th Century) was made up of many Gentile converts from pagan religions and cultures. Is it then possible with the influx of new converts and because of the politicization of Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire, they brought with them their pagan influences of worshipping multiple gods into the church? And being that the Bible at the time (the Old Testament) advocated for one Elohim, they tried to reconcile the fact that Elohim was one by creating the three-in-one paradigm. It also could be that they consciously or unconsciously errantly misinterpreted what the scriptures were saying about Yeshua and the Holy Spirit and took them to mean what they were not saying and thus creating a false three-in- one image of god.

The good news is, if you are reading this article it’s not too late to return to worshipping the one and only true Elohim, the Elohim mentioned in your Bible, the unchanging Elohim, the one and only true Elohim and not this false image (idol) created by the Roman church.

The word of Elohim on multiple occasions warns us to be careful of false prophets. To be careful that we are not deceived or distracted from worshipping the one true Elohim. But sadly time and time again that is exactly what we have done. The Roman Church was handed the truth about Elohim by the early Jewish Christians but instead chose by a vote to make adjustments to Elohim's identity, created an idol, and worshipped it instead of Elohim. And since the 4th century CE they have deceived billions of Christians throughout the centuries mostly through tyranny and indoctrination to worship this trinity idol.

They effectively created a single destructive heresy that has led many away from Elohim while leaving the rest of the beliefs intact. And sadly the fact that the majority of what they teach is true obscures the deadly lie. Because of that many of us are deceived to believe that there is no way the one doctrine that looks questionable could be wrong or wrong enough to separate us from Elohim, when in fact it is this single false doctrine that renders the whole church or religion to be a false religion, worshipping a false god.

Unfortunately, something that was once rejected and disputed as a lie by many in the church at its initial conception in the 4th century CE has now become an accepted truth. Regrettably, we have worshipped this idol (the trinity) for so long that many Christians can no longer differentiate it from the true Elohim.

A lot about Christianity has changed since the first century but then nothing has had quite an impact in changing the direction of the church like the taking over of the church by the Roman government in the 4th century CE. The church in the 1st or 2nd and part of the 3rd Century even though riddled with lots of persecution from the same Roman government was able to thrive because it was a free movement guided by men led by the Spirit of Elohim. But what we ended up having after the Roman government takeover was a church that became a governed institution with established hierarchies within the church, and appointed leaders – Roman Church Bishops – with a blurred line between politics and religion. Instead of the Church having spiritually anointed leaders, it had politically appointed leaders.

Sadly, it is these politically appointed bishops that set up corrupted creeds that established this false doctrine. And for the last sixteen centuries Christians have faithfully followed the creeds that established the trinity doctrine as though they were truth when in fact we have been made to follow a lie.

Just think about it, if the disciple and the Early Christians knew Yeshua was Elohim or part of Elohim and were Trinitarians, why would they agree with the monotheistic view of Elohim held by the Jewish leaders at the time as Elohim being only the Father? Or why would Yeshua or the disciples keep going to Jewish temples – a place where they held a strict adherence to a monotheistic view of Elohim as only our Father – every Sabbath to worship Elohim if they were Trinitarian believers that believed Yeshua and the Holy Spirit were also Elohim?

Just think about it, when did Elohim become a trinity, after Yeshua died or before Yeshua came to this earth? If before, how come while on earth Yeshua did mention the idea that Elohim was trinity? How come he did not mention the Holy Spirit as the third person of the trinity? How come none of his disciples mention this idea? If it was after Yeshua died, are we then saying Elohim can change?

How come not a single text in the Bible mentions this idea? And if it was a mystery, how come no one cared to record this “mystery” anywhere in the Bible or even mention it was mystery we could not understand?

Even though most of what Christianity teaches today is good, it’s hard to ignore the fact that they got it wrong on the most important and fundamental belief – the identity of Elohim. That’s the beginning of all things – who we are worshipping. As long as we are worshipping the trinity we are not worshipping the true Elohim and if we are not worshipping Elohim, we are idolaters and we are breaking Elohim's commandments by worshipping other gods (“Elohim the Holy Spirit” and Yeshua “Elohim the Son”).

You shall have no other gods before me.

 Deuteronomy 5:7

One might think, if billions of Christians are so wrong about the trinity then how come they feel they are so right in their spiritual walk with Elohim? If anything their lives seem to have numerous spiritual experiences that attest to the power of Elohim in their lives. Isn’t that proof that they are doing the right thing and worshiping the right Elohim? The answer is No! Yes their lives might seem to be heading in the right direction, they may even feel they are walking righteously with Elohim, or even having spiritual experiences and the reason it’s so, is because when we follow the life’s principles and commands written in the Bible, we will reap the rewards associated with our obedience to Elohim's Word, whether we believe in the true Elohim or not. It’s by this principle that the rest of humanity is sustained – because Elohim is faithful to His Word – whatever we sow we will reap. So, if we are living in obedience to most of Elohim's commandments, we will reap out of that obedience, which explains why our lives feel and are better off spiritually than those of non-believers, those that choose to disobey Elohim's laws or commands.

That is why for example, when a lot of “Christians” make a commitment to turn from their evil ways and start to follow what the Word of Elohim says, their lives change. These changed lives are evidence of Elohim's faithfulness to His Word and to rewarding those that obey His commands. But even though they are getting the blessing for the commandments they obey, they are not receiving the full blessing of Elohim and thus, even though their lives here on earth may be partially blessed because of their obedience to most of Elohim's Word, their relationship with the true Elohim is at risk because they are worshipping an idol, a false god (the trinity) – and there lies the problem.

Our goal in life should be to seek the truth, to know the truth and to live by the truth every day and in every area of our lives; we cannot pick and choose what we want to obey.

We are all called to be perfect and holy as Elohim is Holy, but if our lives are entangled in the false worship of an idol (trinity), how then can our lives be holy? The first command Elohim gave the children of Israel is “You shall have no other god beside me”, which as Christians we are all breaking as long we believe in the trinity as Elohim.

Even though we were misled into believing in the trinity, it’s still our responsibility to seek Elohim and to know the truth. Elohim's laws will not change just on account that we do not know or understand the law; just as He is faithful in blessing us when we obey Him, so is He also faithful in administering his justice when we break the law.

Some maybe hoping their excuse before Elohim will be “I didn’t know”, or “nobody told me” but yet we forget that Elohim will hold everyone accountable for what they knew and or did not know.

“If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of  Yehovah ’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible.

Leviticus 5:17

This could be a “Noah Moment”; do you board the ship that Elohim is “one Elohim” (only the Father) and not a three-in-one god (“Elohim the Father” “Elohim the Son” “Elohim the Holy Spirit”) or do you continue believing Elohim is a trinity?

The choice is yours, whether you choose to believe the truth in Elohim's Word or church traditions. A lot of “good-willed” spiritual people are doing what they have been told, by people they trust (spiritual leaders); maybe this will be our downfall – putting our trust in men instead of Elohim. Elohim has given each one of us a mind of our own, the ability to make rational judgment, the ability to find the truth, to seek Him and to know Him for who He truly is and not what He has been made to be by others.

When Elohim calls us to give an account of why we believed what we believed, what is going to be our defense before Elohim? Are we going to say we did not know? Or are we going to say we did what our parents told us? What our church doctrine said? What our denomination told us? What the pastor or priest or spiritual leader whom we trusted would not misguide us told us? What will be our defense? Hosea 4:6 says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge”. If we are not seeking Elohim in truth, then how can we know the truth? If we are not going to the source of truth, by

studying Elohim's Word – the Bible – then how do we expect to know the truth? Otherwise then our source of truth becomes what other people say the truth is. But what if they are wrong?

On the Day of Judgment if Elohim was to ask you “did you seek to know me with all your heart, mind and soul?” “Did you read my word to find the truth? Did you test the prophets (your spiritual leaders) to find out if they were speaking the truth?” My hope is that on that day you can say you did.

Personally I would rather get before Elohim in heaven and say “Father, this is what was written in your word the Bible, this is what I believed”.

I would rather believe in a Elohim spoken of in the Word of Elohim, than a man-made god formulated by philosophies and theological arguments that are found nowhere in the Bible.
