I Chronicles 15

I Chronicles 15

15:1 And [David] made for himself houses in the city of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of Elohim, and made a tent for it.

15:2 Then said David, It is not [lawful for any] to bear the ark of Elohim, but the Levites; for Yehovah has chosen them to bear the ark of Yehovah, and to minister to him for ever.

15:3 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord to the place which he [had] prepared for it.

15:4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron the Levites.

15:5 Of the sons of Caath; [there was] Uriel the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and twenty.

15:6 Of the sons of Merari; Asaia the chief, and his brethren, two hundred and twenty.

15:7 Of the sons of Gedson; Joel the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and thirty.

15:8 Of the sons of Elisaphat; Semei the chief, and his brethren, two hundred.

15:9 Of the sons of Chebrom; Eliel the chief, and his brethren eighty.

15:10 Of the sons of Oziel; Aminadab the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twelve.

15:11 And David called Sadoc and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites, Uriel, Asaia, and Joel, and Semaia, and Eliel, and Aminadab,

15:12 and said to them, Ye [are] the heads of the families of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, and ye shall carry up the ark of the Elohim of Israel, [to the place] which I have prepared for it.

15:13 For because ye were not [ready] at the first, our Elohim made a breach upon us, because we sought him not according to the ordinance.

15:14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves, to bring up the ark of the Elohim of Israel.

15:15 And the sons of the Levites took the ark of Elohim, (as Moses commanded by the word of Elohim according to the scripture) upon their shoulders with staves.

15:16 And David said to the chiefs of the Levites, Set your brethren the singers with musical instruments, lutes, harps, and cymbals, to sound aloud with a voice of joy.

15:17 So the Levites appointed Aeman the son of Joel; Asaph the son of Barachias [was one] of his brethren; and Aethan the son of Kisaeus was of the sons of Merari their brethren;

15:18 and with them their brethren of the second rank, Zacharias, and Oziel, and Semiramoth, and Jeiel, and Elioel, and Eliab, and Banaia, and Maasaia, and Matthathia, and Eliphena, and Makellia, and Abdedom, and Jeiel, and Ozias, the porters.

15:19 And the singers, Aeman, Asaph, and Aethan, with brazen cymbals to make [a sound] to be heard.

15:20 Zacharias, and Oziel, Semiramoth, Jeiel, Oni, Eliab, Maasaeas, Banaeas, with lutes, on alaemoth.

15:21 And Mattathias, and Eliphalu, and Makenia, and Abdedom, and Jeiel, and Ozias, with harps of Amasenith, to make a loud noise.

15:22 And Chonenia chief of the Levites [was] master of the bands, because he was skilful.

15:23 And Barachia and Elcana [were] door-keepers of the ark.

15:24 And Somnia, and Josaphat, and Nathanael, and Amasai, and Zacharia, and Banaea, and Eliezer, the priests, were sounding with trumpets before the ark of Elohim: and Abdedom and Jeia [were] door-keepers of the ark of Elohim.

15:25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains of thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant from the house of Abdedom with gladness.

15:26 And it came to pass when Elohim strengthened the Levites bearing the ark of the covenant of Yehovah, that they sacrificed seven calves and seven rams.

15:27 And David [was] girt with a fine linen robe, and all the Levites [who were] bearing the ark of the covenant of Yehovah, and the singers, and Chonenias the master of the band of singers; also upon David [there was] a robe of fine linen.

15:28 And all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yehovah with shouting, and with the sound of a horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, playing loudly on lutes and harps.

15:29 And the ark of the covenant of Yehovah arrived, and came to the city of David; and Melchol the daughter of Saul looked down through the window, and saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

15:1 And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of Elohim, and pitched for it a tent.

15:2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of Elohim but the Levites: for them hath Yehovah chosen to carry the ark of Elohim, and to minister unto him for ever.

15:3 And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yehovah unto his place, which he had prepared for it.

15:4 And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:

15:5 Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:

15:6 Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:

15:7 Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brethren an hundred and thirty:

15:8 Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren two hundred:

15:9 Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brethren fourscore:

15:10 Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.

15:11 And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

15:12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of Yehovah Elohim of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

15:13 For because ye did it not at the first, Yehovah our Elohim made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

15:14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yehovah Elohim of Israel.

15:15 And the children of the Levites bare the ark of Elohim upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Yehovah.

15:16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

15:17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

15:18 And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.

15:19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

15:20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

15:21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

15:22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skillful.

15:23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

15:24 And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of Elohim: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

15:25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yehovah out of the house of Obededom with joy.

15:26 And it came to pass, when Elohim helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of Yehovah, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

15:27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

15:28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yehovah with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

15:29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of Yehovah came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.
