Esaias (Isaiah) 26

Esaias (Isaiah) 26

26:1 In that day they shall sing this song in the land of Judea; Behold a strong city; and he shall make salvation [its] wall and bulwark.

26:2 Open ye the gates, let the nation enter that keeps righteousness, and keeps truth,

26:3 supporting truth, and keeping peace: for on thee, O Lord,

26:4 they have trusted with confidence for ever, the great, the eternal Elohim;

26:5 who hast humbled and brought down them that dwell on high thou shalt cast down strong cities, and bring them to the ground.

26:6 And the feet of the meek and lowly shall trample them.

26:7 The way of the godly is made straight: the way of the godly is also prepared.

26:8 For the way of Yehovah is judgement: we have hoped in thy name, and on the remembrance [of thee],

26:9 which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks thee very early in the morning, O Elohim, for thy commandments are a light on the earth: learn righteousness, ye that dwell upon the earth.

26:10 For the ungodly one is put down: no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth: let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of Yehovah.

26:11 O Lord, thine arm is exalted, yet they knew it not: but when they know they shall be ashamed: jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.

26:12 O Lord our Elohim, give us peace: for thou hast rendered to us all things.

26:13 O Lord our Elohim, take possession of us: O Lord, we know not [any] other beside thee: we name thy name.

26:14 But he dead shall not see life, neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up: therefore thou hast brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and hast taken away every male of them. Bring more evils upon them, O Lord;

26:15 bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth.

26:16 Lord, in affliction I remembered thee; thy chastening was to us with small affliction.

26:17 And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain; so have we been to thy beloved.

26:18 We have conceived, O Lord, because of thy fear, and have been in pain, and have brought forth the breath of thy salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth: we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall.

26:19 The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised, and they that are in the earth shall rejoice: for the dew from thee is healing to them: but the land of the ungodly shall perish.

26:20 Go, my people, enter into thy closets, shut thy door, hide thyself for a little season, until the anger of Yehovah have passed away.

26:21 For, behold, Yehovah is bringing wrath from [his] holy place upon the dwellers on the earth: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall not cover her slain.

26:1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will Elohim appoint for walls and bulwarks.

26:2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

26:4 Trust ye in Yehovah for ever: for in Yehovah JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

26:5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.

26:6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

26:7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.

26:8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Yehovah, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

26:10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of Yehovah.

26:11 Yehovah, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.

26:12 Yehovah, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

26:13 O Yehovah our Elohim, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

26:14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

26:15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Yehovah, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

26:16 Yehovah, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

26:17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Yehovah.

26:18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

26:21 For, behold, Yehovah cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
